Pro is billed via Stripe, monthly, cancel anytime. A server drops back to Free automatically when it runs 4 or fewer daemons at the start of the next billing period.
A server's daemon count = daemons existing on it (running, idle, or stopped). Destroyed daemons don't count. The 5th spawn on a server is the upgrade moment.
Two bills, no surprises.
- 1. Hetzner bills your payment method directly for servers (live prices shown in-app before every purchase, no markup).
- 2. daemons.run bills €5/month per Pro server via Stripe. Self-hosted installs are free with no daemon limits — it's Apache-2.0 open source.
FAQ
- What counts as a daemon?
- Any daemon that exists on the server — running, idle, or stopped. Destroyed daemons don't count.
- What happens when I spawn a 5th daemon?
- You'll see an in-app upgrade prompt. The spawn completes right after payment.
- Do stopped daemons count?
- Yes. Destroyed don't.
- Can I cancel?
- Anytime. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period.
- Is self-hosting really free?
- Yes, unlimited. The platform is Apache-2.0 licensed.
- What do servers cost?
- Hetzner's prices, shown live in-app, from ~€4.51/month.
